Association 2007 Reunion

November 7, 2007toNovember 11, 2007

Gathering of Dragoons

Our Association Reunion is held every two years and is intended to provide a venue for CAV soldiers (serving, have served and retired) to get reacquainted and to hear what is going on in “their Regiment” today. Event activities will include a presentation from a serving member of the Regiment (hopefully the Regimental Commander), an address from a serving general officer alum from the Regiment, tours of the Pentagon, Arlington and Mount Vernon as well as good food and drink. Our Reunion is a fun event and we conduct a small amount of Association business that all enjoy. We hope you can attend and join us to enjoy and relive the CAV camaraderie as we all enjoyed in the past.

In the near future we will publish a full agenda and a list of interesting and fun activities for you and your family.

I posted this before but here it is again for those who misssed it. I continue to be a volunteer for th Army Freedom Team Salute program. The Army will send any Army veteran (Active, Army Guard, or Army Reserve) a very nice and free commendation package (Certificate fo Appreciation, Letter of thanks, Army lapel pin, and two US Army decals). All I need is your name, former Army rank, and mailing address sent to me at jimrudy@bellsouth.net or if you prefer call me at home at 864-972-2085. Also if you were married at any time while in the Army your spouse is also eligible for the FTS commendation, supporter category.

    Dear Fellow Veterans,

    Bad news.

The Army Leadership abruptly pulled the funding for the Army Freedom Team Salute program and it dies as of the end of this month. Abruptly in that I received an email from the FTS program office in Alexandria, VA on Feb 10th that no more commendation requests would be accepted after, get this, Feb. 11th and that the program would cease at the end of the month.

Through this guest book I have found and honored a whole bunch of Army veterans with the free FTS commendation (Certificate, Letter of Thanks, Army lapel pin, & 2 Army decals).

I and several others are mounting a nationwide campaign to get Army veterans and others to write letters send emails, and to make telephone calls to their Congressman, Senators, and to the senior Army leadership. Consider doing the same.

O date some 2.3 million Army veterans and Army supporters have been recognized through this program since it was initiate in May/2005. However, an estimated 15 to 17 million Army vets are in the USA at any given time. This number continually turns over as WW II Army veterans pass away and as our younger soldiers end their terms of service.

    Write to:

    Honorable John McHugh
    Secretary of the Army

    General George W. Casey, Jr.
    Chief of Staff, US Army

Contact your Senators through this below link:

Contact me via email (jimrudy@bellsouth.net) and I would be glad to share some copies of letters to give you a flavor of what to write.

Please help on this important effort and pass this information along to other contacts. We can get this decision reversed with your help.
