Booby-trapped house claims 6 Dragoon’s

The Department of Defense announced today the death of six Soldiers from the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 The six Soldiers, all members of 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, were killed January 9th in Sinsil, Iraq, north of Baghdad, when insurgents detonated a large bomb hidden in a house the Soldiers were clearing. An Iraqi interpreter was also killed, and four other Soldiers injured.

The operation was part of a large offensive to dislodge Sunni guerrillas from sanctuaries deep in the Diyala province.

 Killed in the explosion were:

Sgt. Christopher A. Sanders, 22, of Roswell, N.M.

Sgt. 1st Class Matthew I. Pionk, 30, of Superior, Wis.

Sgt. Zachary W. McBride, 20, of Bend, Ore.

Staff Sgt. Sean M. Gaul, 29, of Reno, Nev.

Staff Sgt. Jonathan K. Dozier, 30, of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Spc. Todd E. Davis, 22, of Raymore, Mo.

    They are at Peace now,The war is over for them.Those men will watch over us forever.They are our Hero’s,We must never forget these troopers. God speed !

    Rest and ride easy my Brothers, for when my time comes, I will join you on sturdy mounts as we patrol our Fiddler’s Green.
