In an e-mail received 5/12/2008:
hello, my name is Yevette winwood, Jason was my cousin. 1st off i want to say to the brave soldier who spoke at the funeral, thank you. we spoke a lil to him at the funeral home, and to be honest, we didn't realize until talking to him, what things are really like, and what happened to Jason that fateful day. not to say that Jason's death wasn't enough to make us realize, but even more so after listening, really listening. Jason's mom and family was very proud of him, to see the out pour of love and respect for Jason and his mom/family was astounding. 2ND off to Jason's unit, and all the other brave men/women over there i say thank you, we may not understand any of this totally, and maybe never will, but the bravery behind it all deserves America;s respect, Jason was doing what he loved and wanted to do, thank you please keep and forward my email, let them all know they have my support and respect., to the brave and their families!

Thank you Kristine for your kind thoughts, and most of all for your son's service. He is among the best, continuing a proud and glorious legacy.

Hi I just want to tell the family you are forever in our prayers. My son leaves on April 16th from GRAFENWOEHR, Germany to join the 2/2, he's 19 and requested to go to Germany and Iraq. My prayers always go to the men & women who are protecting us. Thank-You, Love Army Mom
