NPs, SoI, MND-B Soldiers seize weapons, munitions in Baghdad

Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers with the 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, seized 13 hand grenades, M-4 magazines, and 5.56 mm tracer rounds and armor-piercing ammunition in Adhamiyah at approximately 1 p.m. after the cache was reported by a SoI member.

     
Five hours later, Soldiers from the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, along with police from the 1st Brigade, 1st National Police Division, seized a variety of materials used by crimminals in multiple locations in the New Baghdad district of Baghdad. The combined forces seized an AK-47 assault rifle, an SKS rifle, license plates, a detonator, a rocket-propelled grenade propellant, an artillery shell, circuit boards, a pair of jumper cables and identification cards.   

     
At approximately 9:30 p.m., SoI members in West Rashid turned over a munitions cache to Soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. The cache was wrapped in plastic and contained 107 mm rockets, seven rocket-propelled grenades RPG propellant sticks, and 82 mm mortars.

     
“We continue to work alongside our Iraqi Security Forces partners to remove the weapons and munitions off the streets of Baghdad,” said Lt. Col. Steve Stover, spokesman, MND-B and the 4th Inf. Div. “We will continue to work together to provide for the safety of the Iraqi public.”
