For the first time since this unique organization was established in 1979, it’s member units have gathered together in a combat zone.
Commanders representing three of the oldest Cavalry Regiments still active in the US Army, 2d Dragoons, 3d Brave Rifles, and 11th Blackhorse, met at Iron Gast Haus in Tikrit, Iraq, September 20, 2008, to sign their organizational preamble as their respective commands conducted joint combat operations in Iraq.

Also at the meeting and witnessing the signing of the preamble were MG Mark P. Hertling, CG Task Force Iron, and CSM Roger Blackwood, CSM Task Force Iron. As many of you know, CSM Blackwood was RCSM when 2ACR (Light) deployed to the Gulf in 2003, and currently serves on the Association Board of Governors.
