The 2d Cavalry Association and 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment are working in conjunction on several events of historic stature. Please read on for further details.

2d Cavalry Association Reunion

Place: Ft. Knox, KY
Date: May 2010 (days to be determined)

The date and place of the 2d Cavalry Association bi-annual reunion have been changed, due to a request by the commanding general at Ft. Knox.

The Association Board of Directors voted for the changes in order to partake in an event of epic proportions.

Ft. Knox, KY has long been known as the home of Armor. Soon this will no longer be the case. As part of the Army’s base realignment, the Armor Center will be relocated to the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Ft. Benning, GA. The final Armor Conference at Ft. Knox has been scheduled for May 2010.

At the request of the Chief of the Armor Branch, all Armor and Cavalry Associations have been asked to attend. Also scheduled is a Reunion of the Border Legions.

Dinner With The Boss

The 75th Commander of the Regiment, Colonel James Blackburn, invites the veteran members of the Association to join the Regimental Dining In “Dragoon Elan” which will begin at 1730 hrs on May 15th in Amberg, Germany.

A donation of 30 Euros per ticket is suggested but not required.

Parlez-Vous Luneville

65 Years ago the 2d Cavalry Group liberated the town of Luneville, France from the German occupiers.  In fact, a battle swirled around Luneville and the 2d Cavalry Group found it necessary to liberate the town a second time.

The battle was part of the Nancy Salient and eventually mushroomed into the largest tank engagement since Normandy.

Each year the town of Luneville commemorates the event.

The 2d Cavalry has participated in these events annually for decades. This year the event is very special since the active Regiment – in particular the 1st Squadron (PSG and above) will be participating in a Staff Ride in and near Luneville during the celebration.

In addition I along with several other Cold War and WWII veterans and their families will be in attendance.

We are also honored by the Regimental Commander and Command Sergeant Major participating in the commemorative activities.

You are invited and encouraged to attend.  Mark your calendars to be in France 17-20 September.  More details to follow.
