CSM Patton Recovering From Surgery

E-9CSM
CSM Curtis C. Patton, a long serving Dragoon in Amberg, former Regimental CSM from 1978-80 under the 59th Colonel Harold Page, and the first African-American Soldier appointed to that position, successfully underwent back and spinal surgery June 18, 2009 at Loma Linda Hospital, Loma Linda, CA.

His former 3rd Squadron CO reports: “His wife, Blanca, notified us at 1400 hours that he was out of surgery and in recovery. According to his doctor, CSM Patton managed the surgery well and should be fine and able to walk after a lengthly period of recovery and healing. We will see him later this evening, if he is conscious and in good enough condition for visitors. If not, we will see him tomorrow. He is expected to be in the hospital a minimum of four days. Just wanted to pass on the first report and will send updates as the situation merits.”

We wish former RCSM Patton a safe and healthy recovery.

God’s speed to a complete recovery. CSM Patton was the finist NCO I ever served with. He was responsable for rasing the spirits of a very over taxed group of NCO’s on his arival and was the perfect example to us all. He was the perfect man for the job and that job was well done!
