I took my basic training with A Co 1st Bn 2nd ACR in Ft George G Meade MD 1956. We were trained for the jobs we would do in the 3rd ACR in Germany. I was trained as a wireman. I retired from the Army in Apr of 1977.

Fox Troop 83-85 Bamberg. Hof, Graf and Hoenfels. I think i miss it. Anyone remember the back range at Graf with the old church with thousands of bullet holes in it? I think it was in an old western.

I served as the Squadron Doc for the 2 / 2 ACR in Bamberg. This tour was the source of many fine memories and even greater friends. I will try to make the reunion in KY. Should be fun. I am retired now and I have the time to rekindle friendships. I have followed the units history and its morphing to a Stryker unit. I am proud to have served!
Would love to hear from John Nemetz and Bob Drew.

Served in C Co. 1st Bn. 2ACR 1959 to 1961 in Bayreuth, Hof, Kronach and Graf as a scout patrol leader. They were great time! Would go back except I’ve been told it has changed so much I wouldn’t recognize it.

Served with 2d ACR 1982 to 1988 in 2/2 Sqdn Bamberg as SMO and CDR Hawk Co. Moved to Regiment and served as the RMO and finally as the CDR Maintenance Troop. I also served with 3d ACR 1977 to 1981 in 2/2 Sqdn. Always wished I could have served with 11th ACR but never got the chance. Sam (Susan) and I wish you all the best for the holidays. You are definitely the best! See you at the reunion!

Are there any t-shirts or other keep sakes that would be available to past members?

    Hey Eddie,
Thanks for stopping by the 2d Cavalry Association News Center and leaving a message. Thanks also for your service to our country and the 2d Cavalry, and for your continued support.

To answer your question, there are millions of keepsakes out there for 2d Cav. Too many to list. Best place to start looking is the 2d Cavalry Association’s “Spur of the Moment” store, because all the money goes to support the active regiment and its veterans. Drop me a line and I’ll send you the link.

You might also want to check out Dragoon Base. It is a gathering spot for us old border rats from the 2d Cavalry. Absolutely free and painless to join, with unlimited free space for all your old war photos, videos and stories. We currently have almost 900 members, all former 2d Cavalry and their families and friends. Some of our members date back to the horse Cavalry days, and some are currently serving in the Regiment. Might be one of your old buddies lurking around over there.

Hope to see you soon. http://dragoonbase.ning.com

    Richard,
Thanks for your service to our country and the 2d Cavalry Regiment.

Hard to say who might show up at these things. At the last reunion we reunited two best friends that hadn’t seen each other since WW II.

You should stop by Dragoon Base and see if you can rustle up any of your old buddies over there. We have almost 900 members from all eras of the 2d Cavalry from pre-WW II on up. http://dragoonbase.ning.com/ Hope to see you there.

I was with the 2/2ACR in Bamberg 1971-73 as the Squadron Surgeon (followed Dr. Al Biglan). I too have wonderful memories of my time there and revisit frequently, the last time being a month ago. I went on post for a quick tour and wouldn’t have recognized the place. I am planning to be at the reunion but only for the weekend.
