SFC (retired) Samuel H. Yelvington passed away 25 October 2009 at 5:04 pm. He was surrounded by his family, Geraldine Yelvington, his wife of 62 years, daughters Sandra, Arnetta and Constance, sons Mickel and Ronald, and grandchildren Wesley, Justin, Jason, and Kristen.
Samuel and Geraldine lived in Colorado Springs, CO. Samuel had fallen on Sunday and broke 3 ribs and punctured his left lung, he was in the ICU at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs when he passed.
Samuel Yelvington served with Troop F, 2d Squadron, 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment, at Ft. Meade, Maryland, in 1955 during Operation Gyroscope when 2d ACR traded places with 3d ACR and returned to the U.S., after having been in Germany since 1944 when it spearheaded Patton’s Third Army across Europe.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for SFC Samuel Yelvington’s service to our country and the 2d Cavalry Regiment, and our deepest sympathy for the loss of this trooper, to his family and friends.
