I am researching an old calvary sabre and have hit a road block. It is probably a field officers sabre as it is
rather ornate. I am trying to date it and hoped you might be able to help. The guard has an ornate
eagle with a snake in its mouth with the U.S. emblem. The second important thing it has are the words
iron troop engraved into the narrow part of the blade just below the hilt. It is a W.Walsheid blade.
Would appreciate any help you could offer! Although, I have never served in the military, 5 of my Cooper
great great uncles and my great great grandfather, served in the 10th Kentucky Calvary in Civil War.
Sincerest thanks,
Ali Cooper
